Recent Church Sermons

I just wanted to share my thoughts on some recent sermons from my church. Pastor Herron has been teaching us that if we really have integrity, then we would reach out to people that we would usually feel unconfortable talking too, or hanging out with. He's given us examples in scripture, and you can really hear his heartbeat when talking on this subject. I have been tremendously encouraged and convicted by God at the same time. It is very easy to just hang out with other christians, or only be involved in church activity, etc...and not really think about the dying world around us. Non-Christians can hurt your feelings, tell you your wrong, make fun of you in front of other people, etc. so it can be tough to make friends with them and share your faith with them and do your best to influence them with the gospel. But I am realizing that if I am not seeking out the lost and looking, I will be frustrated with my relationship with God! Jesus came to seek and save the lost, and so should we, if we really have the heart of Jesus. I heard a preacher say once " if you don't care about lost people, your probably not a christian"

Download his sermons and check out his study notes, it is worth your time. Part of his notes is a quote from Pastor Rob Bell which said "Why blame the darkness for being dark; it is far more helpfull to ask why the Light isn't as bright as it should be" This takes away our excuses for not reaching out to the lost letdown and looking. Don't hide your light under a bushell.

Why I Chose ::Catalyst Church

Here are some of my reasons why I have chosen Catalyst Church to be the local body of believers to serve, grow, and learn with:

  1. I believe Jonathan Herron teaches a fair and balanced doctrine, which in todays time, is really hard to find.

  2. The members are just real. What you see is really what you get! It may not be the neatest or cleanest group, but it is definitely REAL. And "real" is where God can clean our messiness. Some would rather not see any messiness in the church, but if we are truly "real" aren't we all messy compared to Jesus in one way or another. I would rather see imperfections, rather than they be hid from me.

  3. Catalyst Church is a missional church. We are not inward focused on each other and our blessings from God, but we are focused on the lost just like Jesus was, who came to seek and save the lost. Jesus said we would be more blessed when we GIVE than when we RECEIVE, and when you are missional, you can't help but be blessed by it.

For me, catalyst is a place where I can serve God freely. When the vision is Jesus and Jesus only, it's hard not to have the desire to follow Christ and desire to do His will. Catalyst isn't afraid of being creative, authentic, and relevant. Scripture is the only thing held as sacred and holy, everything else is an experiment. In my experience with catalyst, I have only had a stronger desire to lift up Jesus so that God will draw people unto Himself. I Thank all members of catalyst who have worked hard to make this movement happen. It is an honor to serve with you all!
